Xbox Live Extras and Netflix for Windows Phone get minor updates

Xbox Live Extras and Netflix

Two popular apps have just been updated: Xbox Live Extras (version 7.3) and Netflix (version 2.1). Both updates appear to be under the hood, i.e. no new features or noticeable changes. Netflix just received a more significant update two weeks ago, and the release notes for that update still appear, unmodified, on the app’s Marketplace page. It’s likely that after rolling out version 2.0, the development team discovered one or more bugs that needed fixing.

We’ve reached out to Microsoft about the Xbox Live Extras update and will report back if they provide any details. If you guys discover any changes in these two apps in the meantime, please let us know in the comments below.

Both Xbox Live Extras and Netflix are free apps, though Netflix obviously requires a subscription to use. Xbox Live Extras is a fairly important tool for gamers, so make sure to get it here if you haven’t already. Netflix subscribers can get the app here on the Marketplace.

Thanks to everyone who tipped us on both app updates!

The Netflix version for T-Mobile users hasn't even updated to v.2.0 (stuck at v.1.6) so I uninstalled it and used Phone7Market (bing it) in order to download the general version of the app and deploy it to my phone. This way I did get v.2.1

Agent-P says:

I was also going to comment on how my Netflix app (from T-Mobile) isn't even version 2.0 yet. Thanks for the heads up on Phone7Market, astroXP. I'm definitely gonna check it out.

theman60099 says:

Didn't need to do that, the general Netflix app showed up for me.

awesumjon says:

Delete it, go to windowsphone.com and download it there. Doing it through the phone or Zune will get you're carrier version. Same with Slacker

Odd-i-See says:

I'm with T-Mo and received both updates.

rfso says:

I don't know if it is just me but Xbox Live Extras seems faster. Maybe they are preparing those apps for Tango devices?

That's the link to download the new one. Had ver. 2.0 on Tmo HD7 since the day they updated.

gfunk84 says:

I'd like to see the WP Netflix app (and the Xbox 360 Netflix app for that matter) updated to support Instant Queue. I don't know if the US versions have it, but while Netflix added Instant Queue support for Canadian customers last year, only my PS3 has support for it.

Paul Acevedo says:

It supports adding stuff to the Instant Queue and watching stuff from the Queue. What else could they add?

gfunk84 says:

Which country are you in? I have no options to view the queue or add/remove items.

Paul Acevedo says:

Weird. US here. I didn't think the app would vary by location.

bashlife says:

The Uk version both Desktop and mobile didn't support instant queue.

theman60099 says:

too bad your PS3 sucks at other things.

xpxp2002 says:

Did the Netflix update bring it to 7.1 (or 7.1.1) SDK so that it supports instant resume?

Paul Acevedo says:

Yes, 2.0 added Fast App Switching support.
